What some of my clients have said about me …

I contacted Laura on the recommendation from a fellow PhD student to edit my PhD thesis. Our discussions spanned some time as we negotiated Covid lockdowns and delays in my schedule. Through this long process, however, Laura was extremely calm and a great communicator via email and over the phone. Laura’s understanding of the University requirements in relation to thesis preparation was excellent and her own postgraduate experience was evident. I really appreciated the way she presented her thorough corrections and the style sheet provided for non-edited chapters was extremely helpful. Laura made a stressful period of the PhD completion much easier and her genuine connection with my work made the process a very rewarding experience.
I have engaged Laura on multiple occasions to edit academic journal articles. Each time, the turnaround time was quite fast, the editing was of a very high standard and the pricing was reasonable. Laura showed high levels of professionalism in both communicating with me about my needs and in the actual copy editing of my work – thanks Laura!
Laura did a great job editing and formatting my PhD. She was clear and considered in her feedback and also was very quick to respond to queries and questions I had. I would recommend her to other PhD students, especially in the field of creative writing.
Dear Laura,

Regarding the journal article you edited for my colleagues and me on the topic of procedural justice: we submitted it to the UNSW Law Journal in 2021 and we were extremely fortunate to receive 3 positive peer review reports in January 2022.

I wanted to thank you so, so much for your editing assistance. This is an A* ranked journal and so it means the world to have our article published. The article contains an acknowledgment of your editing contribution. We couldn't have done this without you.

I've also passed on positive feedback about your editing to colleagues in the RMIT Law School and I would love to continue working with you in the future.

Laura conducted an evaluation of the pilot of a Nonviolent Communication program I ran in men’s prisons. She worked on all facets of the evaluation: refining our feedback form, analysing the data, collating my notes, creating graphics and incorporating relevant quotes from inmates.

She massaged all of this material into a well-written, coherent and powerful report that helped me refine and improve the next iteration of the program, which has now been delivered successfully in both men’s and women’s prisons.

Laura was a pleasure to work with and I found her service invaluable.

Laura is the ideal editor’s editor. She reviewed all my material for a course I created for editors. Being clear, concise, and complete is important for any written endeavor — doubly so when the audience is other editors. For that, I couldn’t have asked for a better editor.

Laura approached my project as the consummate professional, from the clarity in her proposal to the feedback she gave. She not only corrected my infelicities and errors but made astute suggestions for how to enhance the text and the formatting. And she’s such a joy to work with, explaining her edits and suggestions in a way that had me exclaiming, “Yes!” It was clear that she wanted to elevate my words and ideas — and in the process she elevated my confidence. I am excited to launch the course knowing Laura was looking out for me.
Having Laura edit my thesis enabled fresh eyes to scan thousands of words so familiar to me that I couldn't see the wood for the trees. Her attention to detail and knowledge of the editing protocols gave my work continuity and clarity; and gave me the confidence to tackle the final final draft.
In working with an editor, it was very important to me to find someone with excellent attention to detail, who could keep to tight deadlines and who took pride in their work. This has certainly been my experience working with Laura over several years.

Laura is efficient, professional and reliable. I have especially appreciated Laura’s initiative with regard to keeping stylistic conventions between issues of our publication consistent.

Laura has never failed to submit work to deadline and frequently over-delivers in terms of work supplied. I would not hesitate to recommend Laura as an outstanding professional in her field to any individual or institution producing high-value publications.

Laura worked with Engineers Without Borders Australia to deliver our 2018–19 Annual Report, which included: researching content, interviewing staff in Australia and overseas, drafting articles to describe our work and impact over that year and eagle-eyed editing. She was easy to work with and professional, delivering high-quality writing, that while relevant to the technical engineering sector, is also interesting and informative for all.
Laura offered exceptionally clear, calm and well-considered editorial guidance for my PhD thesis. The track changes, margin comments and style sheet Laura provided made it particularly easy to view and understand the editorial changes she suggested, while still leaving the final choice of amendments to me. The turnaround time was also quick and the cost very reasonable. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending Laura’s editorial services.

I was seeking an editor for my PhD exegesis and Laura Russo was recommended to me by a friend. Laura was wonderful to work with, in regular contact during the process and her friendly disposition put me at ease.

Laura’s attention to detail was exceptional and suggested edits were all applicable, thoroughly enhancing the standard of the work. I would highly recommend Laura Russo’s editing services.
Laura’s engagement with my story was insightful and detailed. I appreciate her dividing her analysis of the story in terms of story problem and story question, characterisation, point of view, scene and structure and plot; this helps to clarify some of the issues in the story and the way they might be addressed. I found especially useful and illuminating her focus on story question.

Laura is a skilled and generous editor, and I am grateful for the time and effort she has put into her assessment. Her suggestions demonstrate an understanding of the story and a commitment to helping me fulfil my intention for it. I look forward to redrafting the story with her suggestions in mind.
